EBC OFF TO GOOD START;
17'S WIN WHO'S NEXT INVITE
The Evansville Basketball Club kicked off
the 2008 summer at Reggie Tisdale's Spring Showcase on April 18th. Both
the 15's and 17's played well winning their respective pools and earning
Final Four bids. Both teams returned to Indy on April 25th for
Gary Betts' Who's Next Invitational. The 15-and-under team played the
entire weekend short-handed, however they had enough fight to go 3-0 in
their pool and 4-1 overall. The 17-and-under team had a huge weekend,
winning their pool and then working their way through the bracket to win
the championship. EBC's Kendal Brown was named the tournament MVP for
the 17-and-under team that went 6-0 on the weekend.
The EBC has made the
Final Four a norm at the Who's Next Invite. In 2006, a
16-and-under EBC lost in the quarterfinals to aq 17-and-under Spiece
Indy Heat. Last year, the EBC 17's lost in the championship. This
season, the EBC was able to capture its first championship of the
summer. The 17's are now 10-1 while the 15's are 7-2. Both teams will
compete in the Spiece Run N Slam
on May 2nd in
Fort Wayne
